Emusic

When I was living in Washington, about seven years ago, I had the horrible misfortune to have two entire books of CDs stolen from my car. (A bitchin '86 Volkswagen Vannegan named Xt'opolopoquetl). Some would say it was karmic rettribution for a lifetime of indiscriminate shoplifting and general theft from friends and acquaintences; others would say I had it coming, essentially the same sentiment minus the quasi-eastern spiritual overtones. Stolen mainly was my collection of 80s and 90s indie rock. Labels like Touch and Go, K, Matador, Merge, Subpop. All of my (in no particular order) Beat Happening, Dub Narcotic, Halo Benders, Beck (All singles and b-sides through Midnite Vultures), Big Black, Scratch Acid, the Jesus Lizard, Superchunk, Polvo, Freakwater, Unwound, Unrest, Seam, Sebadoh, Rapeman, Rodan, Slint, Nirvana, Screaming Trees, Pavement, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, TFUL 282, Air Miami...basically the soundtrack to high school, college (first couple of go rounds) through the end of the 90s. Close to 400 CDs in all. Anyone who has ever had this happen can attest to how spirit crushing and demoralizing it can be. Does one rebuy albums he or she knows to be good, or does one continue to experiment, try new things, widen one's musical pallette? Before the onset of digital music, I elected to for the most part try new things. I found the solution to my problem, and for a variety of reasonably priced monthly packages so can you...

1st?

I've finally relented. I'm not neccesarily tired of the blogs I read, but to paraphrase Homer Simpson, I saw an already glutted market and said "me too." Who knows if I'll ever have anything interesting/funny/relevant/juicy/etc to say, but until I tell people about this or link it to other things, noone will really know. Except, maybe the odd Clash fan doing a google search. I'm going back to Louisville in a couple of days to see the fam, Sis and the niece (no names yet...privacy and all), as well as Mom Dad and Grandma. This makes twice this summer seeing the parents; that's probably the most since I moved away. August 1 I'm heading to Guatemala for two weeks before school starts again. See if I can figure enough about howthis works to post pics upon my (hopefully) triumphant return. Subsequent posts depend directly upon my battles with my inherent laziness.
